Joining an event's crew

Sign up with a crew link, get your crew ticket and check in on the day.

If you're helping to run an event as a volunteer, host or helper, the organisers may add you to its crew. You get a crew ticket for check-in, and you might be thanked by name on the event page. You don't need a Yuyu account.

Organisers can share a crew sign-up link with their team. It opens a Join the crew page with the event's name, organiser and date.

  1. Open the link the organisers sent you.
  2. Under Your crew profile, enter your Name and Email.
  3. If you like, add a Food preference, a Role (such as "Registration desk"), a Short bio, a Photo and a LinkedIn URL.
  4. Choose Join the crew.

If you're new to the event's crew, your crew ticket arrives by email. The organisers review crew profiles before anyone appears on the event page, so you won't be shown straight away.

If you've already registered for the event with the same email address, nothing changes and your registration stays as it is. Ask the organisers to add you to the crew; they can turn your registration into a crew ticket.

The page says "Crew sign-ups are closed" once the event has ended or been cancelled. If the link doesn't open at all, the organisers may have replaced or turned it off: ask them for the current one.

Whether you joined with the link or the organisers added you, you get an email saying "You're on the crew for" the event, with your ticket link. Your ticket page shows a Crew chip and the QR code for check-in. See Your ticket for saving it and adding it to your calendar.

On the day, check in at the door like everyone else. The desk shows that you're crew and your food preference.

What's different for crewLink to this section

  • You don't take one of the event's guest places.
  • You can't cancel a crew ticket yourself. If you can't make it, tell the organisers, who can remove you from the crew.
  • You aren't part of a team and can't enter a hackathon project.
  • You won't be asked "Are you still coming?".
  • To change your role, bio or photo, ask the organisers. They edit crew profiles.
