Welcome to Yuyu
What Yuyu does, who it is for, and how this guide is organised.
Yuyu is a home for free community events. Clubs, meetups, campus groups, NGOs and volunteer teams use it to publish an event page, take registrations, email guests, check people in at the door, and follow up afterwards with feedback and certificates.
Every event on Yuyu is free to attend. Yuyu has no ticket sales, payments, ads or trackers.
Who this guide is forLink to this section
The guide is written for everyone who touches Yuyu, so start with the part that fits you:
- Going to an event? Read Going to events. It covers registering, your ticket, teams, and certificates.
- Running events? Start with Run your first event, then dip into the sections on creating events, registration, guests and check-in as you need them.
- Looking after your organisation? Organisations and people explains roles, members and co-organisers.
- Running this Yuyu server? If you are the instance's super-admin, an extra Instance administration section appears in the sidebar once you sign in.
How Yuyu fits togetherLink to this section
Everything in Yuyu belongs to an organisation: your club, group or team. An organisation has members, and each member has a role that decides what they can change.
Organisations run events. Each event has its own public page, registration form, guest list, emails, check-in desk and feedback form. A meetup that repeats every week can be a recurring series, where every date has its own guest list.
When someone registers, they get a ticket with a QR code. At the door, you scan it from the check-in desk on any phone or tablet, even without Wi-Fi.

A note on permissionsLink to this section
Some features are only available to certain roles, for example only owners and admins can publish an event. When a page covers something not everyone can do, you'll see a Who can do this box like this one:
If a button described in the guide is missing for you, you probably don't have that permission. Ask an owner or admin of your organisation.
