Roles and permissions

What owners, admins, members and co-organisers can each do.

Everyone who helps run events on Yuyu has a role. Organisation members are an Owner, an Admin or a Member, and that role applies to every event in the organisation. Co-organisers are different: they help with one event only, with exactly the permissions you give them.

Use this page to decide who should get which role. To invite people or change a role, see Inviting and managing members.

The three organisation rolesLink to this section

OwnerLink to this section

The person who created the organisation. The owner can do everything an admin can, plus:

  • Change other members' roles between Admin and Member.
  • Remove admins as well as members.
  • Manage API access for the organisation.
  • Delete the organisation.

There is one owner per organisation, and the owner role can't be changed or handed over in the app.

AdminLink to this section

Admins run events day to day. They can:

  • Create, edit, publish, clone and delete events and recurring series.
  • Use every tab of every event dashboard: guests and approvals, the event page, emails, check-in, feedback, analytics and settings.
  • Invite and manage co-organisers on events.
  • Create and revoke member invite links, and remove people with the Member role.
  • Edit the organisation's name, description and logo, and set up webhooks in Settings.

MemberLink to this section

Members can see the organisation's dashboard, its events and the team list, but can't change anything. They can open any event's dashboard, where most tabs show a note that they don't have permission. They don't see other people's email addresses or the organisation's drafts list.

Give someone the Member role when they should be part of the team but don't need to manage events. If a member needs to help with a particular event, you can also make them a co-organiser of that event.

Co-organisersLink to this section

A co-organiser helps with a single event. They don't join your organisation and don't see your other events. You choose exactly what they can do from six permissions, such as Check-in for door volunteers or Registrations for someone approving sign-ups. See Event co-organisers.

Choosing the right roleLink to this section

  • A fellow organiser who runs events with you: Admin.
  • Someone who wants to follow along: Member.
  • A volunteer, speaker wrangler or partner helping with one event: co-organiser on that event, with only the permissions they need.

Good to knowLink to this section

  • If a button described in this guide is missing for you, your role probably doesn't allow it. Ask an owner or admin.
  • Your roles in every organisation are listed in Account → Organisations, along with the events you co-organise. You can leave an organisation from there, unless you're its only owner. See Your data and memberships.
