Answering "Are you still coming?"

Confirm or give up your place when an organiser asks.

Shortly before an event, the organisers may email you to ask whether you're still coming. It helps them plan food, seats and staff, and lets them offer your place to someone else if you can't make it. Answering takes a moment and you don't need an account.

The email is only sent to people with a confirmed place, and only when the organisers choose to ask. Its subject is "Are you still coming to" followed by the event name. A reminder starts with "Reminder:".

Answer the questionLink to this section

  1. Open the email and choose Yes, I'll be there or No, I can't make it.
  2. Your answer page opens with that choice picked. It shows the event's date, time and place, and your name and email.
  3. If you like, add a Note for the organisers, such as "Arriving late". Notes can be up to 500 characters.
  4. Choose Send my answer.

You'll see "Thanks, see you there!" or "Thanks for letting us know", with your answer and when you sent it. The organisers see your answer and note straight away.

Saying NoLink to this section

What happens when you say No depends on how the organisers set up the event:

  • Your answer is just recorded. You keep your place and your ticket. The organisers may follow up with you.
  • Your place is released. The page warns you first with "Answering No releases your place", and the button changes to Release my place. When you send it, your registration is cancelled and your place can go to someone else. You'll see "Your place has been released".

If you've already been checked in at the event, you keep your place whatever you answer.

On a team event, a released place cancels only your own registration, as if you'd left the team. See Registering as a team.

Changing your answerLink to this section

You can change your answer until the event starts. Open the link from the email again, choose Change my answer, pick the other option and send it. If you answered No and your place was released, you can't change it: register again instead.

Once the event has started, the page says "Answers are closed" and shows the answer you gave.
