Key terms

Organisations, events, series, registrations, tickets and the other words used throughout Yuyu.

Yuyu uses a small set of words consistently across the app, its emails and this guide. If a screen uses a word you don't recognise, it is probably explained here.

Organisations and peopleLink to this section

  • Organisation: the group that runs events, such as your club, meetup, society or volunteer team. Every event and series belongs to one organisation. See Creating an organisation.
  • Member: someone who belongs to an organisation. Each member has one role:
RoleIn short
OwnerEverything an admin can do, plus decisions kept for owners, such as deleting the organisation. Every organisation has at least one owner.
AdminCreates, edits, publishes and runs the organisation's events.
MemberCan open the organisation's event dashboards to look around, and changes an event only with co-organiser permissions on it.
  • Co-organiser: a person given exact permissions on one event or series (for example checking people in, or managing registrations) without joining the organisation. See Event co-organisers.
  • Guest or attendee: anyone who registers for an event. Guests don't need a Yuyu account.
  • Crew: the people running an event, such as volunteers, hosts and stage helpers. Each crew member gets a crew ticket for check-in that doesn't use up a guest place, and the event page can show them in an optional Crew section. See Event crew.

Roles and permissions has the full detail.

EventsLink to this section

  • Event: a single gathering with a date, time, place or online link, and its own guest list.
  • Recurring series: a repeating event, such as a weekly meetup. Each date in a series is an occurrence with its own guest list. See Recurring series.
  • Event page: the public web page for an event, with its details, programme, speakers, sponsors and the registration button.
  • Event dashboard: where organisers run one event, in tabs: Overview, Guests, Event page, Emails, Check-in, Feedback, Analytics and Settings. Hackathons also get a Judging tab.
  • Draft, Live and Offline: an event's publishing state. Draft is visible only to your team. Live means the event page is public and people can sign up. Offline takes the page down, and guests keep their places. See Publishing and visibility.
  • Short link: an optional short address for an event that is easy to print or say out loud. It only works while the event is Live.
